Dry Eye

Morris Eye Group offers treatment for Dry EyeDry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis and a number of other abnormalities of the external eye surface have overlapping signs and symptoms. In fact, symptoms such as “burning,” “itching,” “discomfort or pain” and “blurred vision” may be related to a combination of these conditions. Unraveling the complex interplay of these symptoms requires specific testing, using the latest eye-surface diagnostic lab tests as well as a thoughtful medical evaluation.

It is important to determine the specific cause(s) of your symptoms to be able to prescribe the correct treatment to resolve each underlying problem. The doctors at Morris Eye Group have specific training on Dry Eye and have implemented a specialty clinic to help patients suffering from dry eye and or the symptoms of dry eye. After a comprehensive exam with our office, the doctor may recommend coming back for an appointment in our Dry Eye Specialty Clinic.

At our Dry Eye Specialty Clinic, patients undergo the following:

1. Tear quality measurement testing:

a. TearLab® Analysis
b. Tear Breakup Time Analysis
c. Lissamine Green Tear Secretion Analysis

2. OSDI consultation: a researched-based survey to determine the relationship, if any, of poor quality visual function as it relates to any underlying eye surface disease problem.

3. External disease evaluation of meibonian gland secretions, ocular rosacea, blepharitis, pterygium, conjunctivochalasis, and other eye surface conditions that may mimic “dry eyes.”

4. Presentation of the laboratory and examination findings with an opportunity for you to discuss the recommended treatment plan and suggested follow-up by the doctor.

TearLab®Analysis equipment is the only technology available to measure tear quality. It is an especially sensitive test, easily skewed by anything in or around your eyes.
